LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- September 17, 2012 -- BioLogic, a specialist in urban cycling gear, today unveiled the ReeCharge Dynamo Kit, a device that converts power from a bicycle dynamo hub into power for USB devices.

“Millions of bicycles are already equipped with dynamo hubs that can generate green power while the cyclist rides,” stated Kevin Chan, BioLogic product manager. “But most people only use that power in the evening to power their lights so a lot of that energy is wasted. We thought it would be a great idea to harness that energy and use it to power all the electronic devices that we carry. With the ReeCharge Dynamo Kit, you can charge your phone or spare battery while you ride to work.”

The ReeCharge Dynamo Kit takes the raw power created by the dynamo hub and converts it into the correct voltage for USB devices. Internal electronics also regulate the power, preventing power spikes while riding at high speeds. The ReeCharge Dynamo Kit works with any bicycle dynamo hub and ships with a micro-USB adapter, allowing it to charge any device with a micro-USB port. The Dynamo Kit also has a 3.5 mm jack plug and is fully compatible with the BioLogic ReeCharge Case Bracket and ReeCharge PowerPack.

“You hear stories of people in some parts of Africa paying a lot to get a charge on their phone because of the lack of an electrical grid,” continued Chan. “The low manufacturing cost of our product makes it potentially very interesting for these markets and we plan to work with some of the non-profits operating in these areas to see if we might help out.”

The BioLogic Dynamo Kit has a MSRP of US$30 (€30) and will be shipping worldwide by the end of the year. BioLogic will be displaying the new hub and additional product lineup at Interbike in booth #18065 and at Demo Day in booth #D2009.
